Watch Out For These Dishonest Window Selling Tactics

Not so much nowadays, but in the past, the double-glazing industry had something of a bad reputation, largely down to the conduct of its salespeople and the sales tactics they’d use.

Thankfully, hardly any of these sorts of salespeople now exist within the industry, which has enhanced the public’s trust in what we do, but there are, unfortunately, still a few out there.

They’re certainly not at ERG Scotland! Our salespeople would never be deceitful to trick you into buying or pressure you into doing the same.

You will be able to identify them when you’re exposed to any of these sales strategies:

Price Conditioning

We always listen to our customers to establish their requirements so that we can give them an accurate and genuine quote.

What we won’t do is ask questions like ‘what do you want to pay?’ or ‘what’s your budget?’ with the aim of then coming up with a figure we think will seal the deal.

This is what’s called Price Conditioning.

Fake Discounts

When a customer requests a quote, we give them one in writing and clearly state where any discount has been applied, allowing them to mull it over in their own time.

To force your hand and stop you looking elsewhere, a salesperson may come up with a fake discount to give you the impression that you’re getting a great deal.

In reality, it’s unlikely to be that good of a deal.

Big Price Drops

Any quote we give out is the best price we can offer, and it won’t change.

Some salespeople take a different approach and will quote you an extortionate amount to see how it makes you react.

They will hope that it makes you recoil so that when they then agree to significantly drop the price, you will be massively relieved and inclined to sign on the dotted line.  

Competitor Bashing

As a company, ERG Scotland sells itself. We have over 40 years of experience, are a member of the Consumer Protection Association, provide a 20-year guarantee etc. etc.

So, there’s no need for us to put down our competitors when speaking to customers to secure their business. We just concentrate on what we’re good at!

But that’s what some salespeople will do; solely focus on discrediting the competition, rather than go into why you should buy from them and give you access to testimonials.
